First Times and Second Chances.
Today! 16th February 2007, Friday. Chinese New Year Eve's Eve. Also known as, the first day Joshua Phua went to work. Haha yeah, finally got off my bum and got myself a job. And in a sense i'm real glad i didnt take any of those previous data entry jobs. because i would have died. Spent 5 hours doing database entries today (a secondary priority) and it is mind-numbing. And the laptop i'll be working with is lag². not quite lag³, but its still pretty bad. Should be more fun when i actually start making like 100 calls a day. Talking to people is more fun than data entry =D
anyway i'm working at Hewitt Associates, apparently the largest provider of multi-resource HR worldwide. And also apparently going to get even bigger and more publicly reknown soon. haha. lucky me =) and the people all seem really nice and decent, i even got a 2 mandarin oranges, a pack of nice golden angpaos, and a 4D ticket. first day on the job.. it was probably for the temp i replaced, but she had left the office already heh. So.. finally im working. Should be an interesting experience, even if its not at a bank/financial firm. Definitely more interesting than data entry at least (which is what most banks and financial firms seem to be offering).
Today is also the day in which i remembered why Lost was my favourite show. Ok, so recently Heroes has been wowing my world.. but that was also partly due to the fact that Lost was on break. Now its back, and it is totally rocking my world. Probably the most poignant episode i have ever seen, in any TV show. If you haven't watched Lost.. go and get the DVD sets. Or find someone who has it. Or hope that time freezes for 2 days so you can go on a Lost marathon and catch up to the current season (3). It is just that good.
Guess i'll end here. Started off this post thinking it might be reflective, thoughtful. Even sad. But for some reason i dont have the heart to blog like that anymore. Will just end with these beautiful lyrics.

You know somethings wrong when the referee looks this scared. Strangely enough Javier Zanetti looks really pissed, while Markus Merk looks like death just waved at him.

Police clash with supporters outside the stadium, during which 40 year old police officer Filippo Raciti lost his life. Ironically, a minute's silence was held at the start of the match in memory of a club official who had died the week before while trying to break up a fight in an amateur league match.

Italian Football Federation (FIGC) commisoner Luca Pancalli can't believe what is happening. Champions of the world, and yet all football has been suspended.

A lady walks past barricades in the stadium the next day. Its sad when you need to erect such barriers at stadiums.

Graffiti claiming that it was revenge for Carlo Giuliani, an activist who was shot and run over in 2001 by Carabinieri (italian military police) at the G8 summit in Genoa. Why do bad things happen on my birthday? The day of my birth also happens to be the day on which one of the most horrifying and violent murders in Australia was committed. Whee.

A child walks past closed ticket offices in Rome. Makes one realise.. a world without football is meaningless.
